Will my nipple heal while DDs still feeding off...

Will my nipple heal while DDs still feeding off it? And while it stays wet? (from the breast pads and Lansinoh) Im going to start using a pump to draw the nipple out and start let down before attaching her, will I always have to do this? Or as she gets bigger will she be able to do it on her own? Sorry if theyre stupid questions..
